• What kind of boat do you have and how many people can it carry?
Elegant Lagoon Cruises operates one 21’ electric boat. The boat cruises at a top speed of 5 MPH. The maximum number of guests allowed per cruise is 8. All our cruises are private. We will never place people who are not in your party in the boat with you. (The only exception to this is during the month of December when we offer our Holiday Lights Cruises. However, you do have the option of booking a private cruise then as well.)
• When are your cruises offered?
We offer cruises seven days a week all year long, from 8 AM to 10 PM. All cruises are private and booked at a date and time of your choosing.
• How long is the cruise?
It’s up to you. Choose from a 1 hour, 1.5 hour or 2 hour cruise.
• Do you provide music?
Soft background music is played during your cruise. The boat is equipped with a CD player. You are welcome to bring your own CD’s if you wish.
• What is served on our cruise?
Gourmet meal service and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the cost of the cruise. Please see the Menu selections on our website. Beer, wine and champagne is also available for an additional fee. You can arrange for this beverage service when you book your cruise.
• Do we have to order food service? Can we bring our own food?
You do not have to order food from Elegant Lagoon Cruises. Click on the 'Cruises and Pricing' link on our website to view pricing for a 'No Food Service' cruise. Also, you are welcome to bring your own food if you wish. Just add $2.50 per person to the 'No Food Service' pricing. We provide everything you'll need for your picnic...silverware, dishware, glassware, napkins, corkscrew, etc. and, we clean up the mess when you're done!
• Can we bring our own alcoholic beverages onboard?
You are welcome to bring your own wine, beer or champagne (sorry, no hard liquor is allowed.) We charge a $10 corkage fee per bottle.
• Can you take us to our favorite Foster City waterfront restaurant?
Absolutely. Call for rates on our “Destination” cruises.
• I live on the water in Foster City. Can you pick me up at my waterfront home?
We are happy to pick you up at your waterfront residence provided you have safe and adequate docking facilities. Please call us to discuss this option.
• Do we need to make reservations?
Reservations are required at least two days in advance, BUT, we recommend two to three weeks in advance for weekend cruises, a little less for mid-week times. If you are interested in seeing the Holiday Lights on the lagoon, we start taking reservations for the month of December on July 1st.
• What about reservations with less than 48 hours notice?
We cannot guarantee that we can accommodate you on less than 48 hours notice but we will do our best. A rush fee of 25% of the cruise price may apply.
• Are Gift Certificates available?
Yes. Call 650.525.9780 to order one. And, please remember, that when making a reservation, even if you have a Gift Certificate, we still require a credit card number to hold your reservation.
• Do you have a discount for seniors?
Yes. Seniors (age 65+) are offered a 20% discount off the additional guest rate.
• Are children allowed on the boat?
Children of all ages are welcome. Parents should keep in mind however, that there is no space onboard the boat for young children, toddlers and babies to move around or play. If you do decide to bring your young children, we recommend that you limit your cruise to 1 hour. Also, all children (including infants) under the age of 12 are required to wear life vests when they cruise. Life vests are provided by Elegant Lagoon Cruises, or you can bring your own.
• Do you have a discount for children?
Yes. Children ages 3 to 11 are offered a 50% discount off the additional guest rate. Children ages 2 and younger cruise free. And, although there is no charge for children 2 and younger, we do need to know in advance if you have children coming with you as they do count as passengers with respect to the 8 passenger maximum. Children must be accompanied by an adult and those under the age of 12 (including infants) are required to wear life vests when they cruise. Life vests are provided by Elegant Lagoon Cruises, or you can bring your own.
• What should we wear?
Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. There is no restriction on footwear. And although the cabin is fully enclosed and has a heater, we do suggest you bring a jacket or sweater when the weather is chilly.
• What if there are only two people in my group? Will there be others in our boat?
All cruises are private. We will never place people who are not in your party in the boat with you. The only exception to this is during the month of December when we offer our Holiday Lights Cruises. Private cruises are available in December for a minimum party of 6 full fare adults.
• What happens if the weather is bad?
The boat is fully enclosed and comfortable in all types of weather. In the event of very strong wind or heavy rain, the Captain reserves the right to postpone the cruise. While this poses unfortunate inconveniences to those with reservations, it is sometimes necessary. In such an event, we will notify all parties by phone as far in advance as possible at the number(s) they left when making their reservation. The cruise can then be re-booked at a mutually agreed upon date and time.
• I tend to get seasick. Is there a danger of motion sickness?
Although the cruise is on the water, the Foster City lagoon is a calm, protected body of water and the boat rocks only slightly in this environment. Even our most sensitive guests have stated that they had no problem with motion sickness during their cruise.
• Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
The parking and dock areas at Leo Ryan Park are wheelchair accessible; however, the boat itself is not. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs and we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate you.
• What happens if we arrive late?
Unfortunately, since there may be other cruises booked after yours, your cruise may be cut short, depending upon how late you arrive after your reservation time. If you know you are going to be late, it is a good idea to call so we can remain prepared to accommodate you. Late guests will not receive a full or partial refund.
• What happens if we can’t make our scheduled reservation?
You need to call us as soon as you become aware that you are unable to make your reservation. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy.
• Why is a credit card required to make reservations?
Cruise reservations require a credit card number to assure us that you will show up or cancel at least 48 hours ahead of your schedule cruise time. Because we require 48 hours advance reservation, we generally cannot fill a cruise at the last minute if the group holding a reservation fails to show up. Also, the meals you ordered when booking your cruise are prepared especially for you and your party by our caterer. If the cruise is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, Elegant Lagoon Cruises still incurs the caterer’s charge. Please refer to our Cancellation Policy.
• What is your Cancellation Policy?
If you cancel your cruise at any time during the 48 hours prior to your cruise time, your 50% deposit will be forfeited unless we are able to rebook your specific cruise time and the new guests agree to enjoy the same meals you ordered. If you fail to call or show up for your cruise, you will be charged the full amount of the cruise. If you file a dispute with the credit card company over any legitimate charges to your credit card as outlined by our posted company policies, we will charge an additional administrative fee of $25 to your credit card. If we have made an inadvertant mistake in the charges, the administrative fee will not apply. We must be strict about this as it is nearly impossible for us to fill a cancelled reservation in time to recover lost business.
"Thank you so much for the wonderful experience on the lagoon. The food was great and we even converted some to the joys of sushi! The ride was smooth and the ambiance was "luxury on the lagoon!" Aloha."
